On approaching Alton, do NOT turn right where signposted towards the town centre, but continue straight on along the Basingstoke Road (which becomes Lenten Street).
After about 500 yards, the road turns sharp left into Amery Street. Beware the speed bumps.
At the bottom of the hill, the road turns sharp right.
On the right is the entrance to the carpark. No 5 Vicarage Hill is just after this carpark entrance and beyond Bartlett & Butcher outfitters, so pass to the left of the bollard, then carefully pull over to the right (BEWARE THAT THE ROAD IS TWO-WAY AFTER THE BOLLARD).
Leave the M3 at junction 5 signposted "Hook (B3349) A287". Turn left on to the A287 for about 200 yards, then at the roundabout turn right on to the B3349 to Alton. Follow the B3349, via various twists and turns and junctions for about 10 miles, passing through North Warnborough, Odiham and South Warnborough to Alton. Just after entering Alton, you arrive at a T-junction mini-roundabout.
Turn left onto Basingstoke Road (which becomes Lenten Street).

Leave the M3 at junction 10 following signs to “A31 Alton”. This involves turning right at four roundabouts before joining the A31 dual carriageway.
Stay on this road for about 16 miles, bypassing Alresford and passing through Ropley and Four Marks.
After Four Marks you go down hill on a dual carriageway to a roundabout with exits for Chawton and for the A32 to Fareham (that's FarEham!!). Continue on the A31 (signposted to FarNham, but take the exit immediately after the roundabout, turning left (signposted Alton).
Now follow instructions as From M3 and Winchester via the A31 travelling Eastwards.
Approaching Alton from Four Marks you go down hill on a dual carriageway to a roundabout with exits for Chawton and for the A32 to Fareham (that's FarEham!!). Continue on the A31 (signposted to FarNham, but take the exit immediately after the roundabout, turning left (signposted Alton).
At the two mini-roundabouts, turn effectively right along Butts Road (signposted to Town Centre and Hypermarket).
After about half a mile, the road bends sharp right.
Go straight on across the mini-roundabout which gives access to Sainsburys, and you then pass Sainsburys on your right.
At the next mini-roundabout, continue straight on, then after about 400 yards pass the Police Station on your left and the road bends left.
At the roundabout, turn left into Normandy Street.
After about 200 yards, at another mini-roundabout, turn right into Church Street.
After about 100 yards, at yet another mini-roundabout, turn left into Vicarage Hill.
Number 5 is facing you at the bottom of the hill.
After leaving Farnham, travel about 8 miles, passing Bentley, and at the first roundabout take the right turn signposted to Alton.
Follow the road (Anstey Road, eventually becoming Normandy Street) into Alton for about a mile, until you reach a mini-roundabout, at which you go straight on, staying on Normandy Street (with the Magistrates Court on your left).
After about 200 yards, at another mini-roundabout, turn right into Church Street.
After about 100 yards, at yet another mini-roundabout, turn left into Vicarage Hill.
Number 5 is facing you at the bottom of the hill.
